Car Transport in Port of Philadelphia, Annual deal to move 150,000 vehicles
Car delivery services will be taking about 150,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles to dealerships across America annually from the Port of Philadelphia after it was announced that an agreement has been reached by parties that will see imported vehicles pass through the Port of Philadelphia’s Packer Avenue Marine Terminal (PAMT). The vehicles will be processed at the Pier 98 Annex at Columbus Boulevard and Oregon Avenue by the Walt Whitman Bridge, before being loaded on car carriers and transported to destination.

What does this mean for auto haulers tasked with transporting the vehicles, the Port of Philadelphia and surrounding regions? Experts think that this deal could create over 250 fulltime jobs locally and an additional 400 fulltime jobs in the surrounding regions and it certainly is going to be a long term job for car transport services in the region. This news is probably going to be going through the minds of many executives at vehicle transport firms, once they find out, and they’ll be thinking about the possibilities for their profit line. The annual job of moving these Hyundai and Kia vehicles is probably going to be lucrative and we know that it will be steady, so it will be attractive to lots of firms that need the business. The firm that does get the job is going to probably be in a better long term financial position and it will be able to develop a relationship with two car manufacturers that will be building millions of cars in the future that will need to be transported to market.

Pirates Grab Another Vessel, International car shipping safe?
Heavily armed pirates have once again attacked shipping transportation in the Gulf of Eden. It was reported that the Panama-flagged Daisy was attacked the other day as it made its way into the International Recommended Transit Corridor for shipping transportation. Fortunately, this wasn’t a vessel operated by one of the world’s international car shipping firms, but it can only be a matter of time before pirates try to get their hands on a ship of this size. The pirates have been getting pretty brazen in their activities and it wouldn’t be surprising if the data told a story of increasing pirate activity in the last few months. This is of course something that will ultimately be determined in the weeks and days ahead, but pirates trying to up the ante on their pirate activities might not surprise many watching the situation.

Apparently, the EU Navy Force is on station and has determined that the 21 Filipino crew men are safe for the moment. They’ll obviously continue to keep tabs on exactly what the pirates are up to and where the ship goes, but it’s obviously hard for them to take back the ship without endangering the hostages. Considering the value of the ship, we can expect negotiations will probably start between the pirates and owners of the vessel. At least we hope these two parties are communicating and they quickly find away to get the bulk carrier ship and its crew back home and safe. This is probably going to take some time though!

Vehicle Transport up in Port of Melbourne, Car shipping to Australia
International car shipping is apparently up by almost 50 percent in the Port of Melbourne for the month of February 2010 as compared to the same time in 2009. Reports are that they were over 21,000 cars moving through the Port of Melbourne in February 2010, an increase of around 91 percent over the number of vehicles moved by car delivery services in the port during February 2009. This means the massive investment the Port of Melbourne made in its future with the recently completed Channel Deepening Project (CDP) appears to have paid off with an increase in business being conducted in the port. The channel was increased to allow for the passage of larger vessels and apparently the number of vessels visiting the port has gone up and the volume of cars being transported as well.

The planners of the Channel Deepening Project must certainly be smiling and thinking of the possibilities for the future of the Port of Melbourne and Australia. The increase in business is only going to enhance the Port of Melbourne’s status as one of the top ports of the world and the premier container port in the region. The deepening of the shipping channels of the Port of Melbourne is also expected to open up the seaways to Australia and the surrounding regions for three decades or longer. If the month of February that the port just experienced is any guide for the future, then car transport in the Port of Melbourne over the next three decades is going to be intense and probably very profitable?

Car Transport Down at Port of Luka Koper, Car shipping services to Slovakia
The business of international car shipping has apparently been on a downswing during the first quarter of 2010 at the Slovenian port of Luka Koper. The port reported that car delivery services moved almost 76,000 vehicles during this period at the port, which is probably a little less than they were expecting, but still significantly above the number of cars that were moving through the port in the same period in 2009.

The real question of course is going to be told in the following months of 2010 for the Port of Luka Koper, as it will for a large number of ports of the world. Will the number of cars moving through the port go up or will it continue to be a little below expectations? Certainly planners at the Port of Luka Koper and forecasters are going to probably be a little less rosy in their predictions in the months ahead. Still, the volume of cars coming and going through the port are improving and the numbers are better than the terrible results posted in 2009. This in itself is great news and is probably the fact we should focus on the most in this situation, while keeping our guard up for any problems lurking in the shadows.
If the port plans for the worst that can happen in the months and years ahead, while hoping for the best to occur in all situations, they can achieve two goals. They can be prepared for any problem that might occur and they can keep a positive attitude, which is half the battle we have before us.

Toyota Prius Minivans on American Auto Haulers, Delivering future Toyota cars
Toyota Motor Corporation has had problems with its newest generation of vehicles in 2010 and auto haulers have been busy picking up and delivering problematic Toyota vehicles to dealerships. Reports are that Toyota is still strong and is going forward with plans they have for new vehicles in the future, despite their current problems. Toyota’s latest project is a new Prius minivan that will run on lithium ion batteries that is scheduled to be finished and ready for the road sometime in the first part of 2011.

Does this mean that American car transport services will be picking up and delivering problematic Prius minivans and taking them back to dealerships once the new vehicle is released? This is certainly a question that Toyota officials are certainly thinking about at the moment and you can be sure that they’ll make sure this newest vehicle is ready for market, before they release it. If they’re problems with any more new Toyota vehicles, customers are probably going to begin getting a little worried about buying a new Toyota vehicle and one could hardly blame them for wondering what Toyota is up to lately. One thing is for sure, customers that buy a new Toyota might be locating a suitable car delivery service ahead of time to take their Toyota back to the dealership, if the new vehicle doesn’t drive or is as safe as expected.

If everything goes as expected with Toyota’s new Prius minivan, we can expect to see them being taken to dealerships by American vehicle transport services in the future. The real question for customers that purchase a new Toyota minivan will be whether they should locate a suitable car delivery service, before buying a new Toyota Prius?
